Italian technological district for the engineering of polymeric and composite materials and structures
The research project aimed to study and develop materials and production processes for composite components with structural and functional properties intended for the transportation and defense sectors. The goal of the project was to meet the needs of the target market, including increased performance and/or reduced weight or costs.
For the automotive sector, research activity was aimed at the creation of functional and structural dashboard parts made of polymer composite with improved aesthetic and functional properties compared to solutions made of traditional materials.
In the aeronautical sector, curved and flat composite panels representing fuselage elements have been produced using innovative technologies.
In the defense sector, an integrated system has been developed for the production of composite panels with reduced weight and improved properties compared to the materials currently used.
Innovative soluzioni progettuali sono state ottenute anche attraverso opportune attività di modellazione che hanno guidato la progettazione strutturale dei componenti, l’ottimizzazione dei processi di produzione e la formulazione dei sistemi polimerici, al fine di ottenere miglioramenti significativi delle proprietà strutturali e funzionali rispetto agli standard esistenti.
