AMTECH

A CROSS-BORDER INITIATIVE FOR ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING INNOVATION AND INTEGRATION

Partners

The project involves four European partners:

  • IMAST – High tech District on Engineering of composite materials polymers and structures (IT) – Lead
  • Pro-Eksport Albania Association (AL)
  • Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centre Tehnopolis (ME)
  • Sviluppo Italia Molise (IT)

Duration

12 months from 1st February 2024

AMTECH is a cross-border cooperation project, funded under the first CAPITALISATION SMALL-SCALE call of the INTERREG IPA SOUTH ADRIATIC 2021-2027 Programme.

AIM

The AMTECH project aims to support SMEs in traditional sectors and, more generally, in the strategic sectors of the countries involved, in addressing future challenges, particularly in the manufacturing sector. As part of the project, a Joint Action Plan will be developed to create the conditions for ensuring stable and continuous collaboration, on a district level, between Albania, Italy (Puglia, Molise), and Montenegro. The sharing of technical-scientific skills and knowledge in the field of additive manufacturing, which can be integrated or replace the manufacturing processes currently used by SMEs, will ensure more efficient work cycles and a reduction in waste and energy consumption.

THE ACTIONS FROM IMAST

As part of the AMTECH project, IMAST intends to capitalize on the results of the AMICO project (Additive Manufacturing and Process Automation for Hybrid and Composite Materials PON ARS01_00758 Project, Italy, 2014-2020), coordinated by the District itself, within the framework of the 2014-2020 Italian research program to support industrial research and experimental development projects in key areas of specialization, particularly “Smart Factory.” This project acquired advanced knowledge in 3D production and developed prototypes in the automotive, aerospace, and pharmaceutical sectors. More specifically, in addition to acting as the project leader, IMAST will transfer technological know-how on additive manufacturing processes to SMEs in other industrial sectors through a series of activities, including: organizing the opening conference in Puglia, aimed at discussing the challenges and concrete opportunities offered by industrial 3D printing; organizing two incoming missions to transfer knowledge on Additive Manufacturing, one dedicated to high-end sectors and the other to traditional sectors; and promoting matchmaking events to foster the development of innovative business ideas and cross-border cooperation.
