OBIETTIVO

The ECCENTRIC project, "Enhancing circularity in the Adriatic area supporting innovation and growth of the blue-economy emerging sectors", in which IMAST is a project partner, is a project launched in April 2024 and funded by the Interreg Italy-Croatia 2021-2027 Program.

The project involves the collaboration of 8 project partners (5 Italian entities and 3 Croatian entities) and 6 associated partners, and falls under Specific Objective 1.1 "Developing and enhancing research and innovation capacities and the uptake of advanced technologies."

ECCENTRIC focuses on the three emerging sectors of the blue economy in the Adriatic area: marine energy, maritime safety and surveillance, and infrastructure. It aims to increase collaboration between these emerging sectors and research institutions, and to strengthen the sustainability of the blue economy through the green and digital transition.

In particular, the project aims to develop greater expertise among public and private intermediaries in support of the emerging sectors of the blue economy, strengthen circularity by working with SMEs and start-ups, and consolidate the support of public and private actors with appropriate investments and financial tools for the project’s three key sectors: marine energy, maritime safety and surveillance, and infrastructure.

The key actions of the project are:

  • Development of three strategic policy documents to promote innovation and circularity in the blue economy
  • Increasing collaboration between the emerging sectors of the blue economy and research institutions
  • Strengthening cooperation and guiding the emerging sectors of the blue economy towards green growth
